Our Farm Today
At Morgan Partners Farms, we are proud to carry on a legacy that spans generations in the Mallee. As a family-run farm, we combine deep-rooted knowledge of the land with modern, sustainable farming practices to protect and enhance our environment while maximising production in this unique and sometimes challenging region.

Renowned for its excellent hay-making conditions, the Mallee is where we focus on growing quality cereal and legume hay, supported by grain production. We are committed to improving our soils through techniques like no-till, soil amelioration, careful nutrition management, and the use of organic amendments, ensuring our land remains productive for future generations.

Customer service is at the heart of what we do. We work hard to provide a reliable supply of premium hay and grain, even in tough seasons, and strive to meet the needs of our long-term clients with consistency and care.

We’re proud to have a dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly year-round to ensure timely operations, which are critical to growing the best crops possible. Our team is as valued as our customers, and their hard work and expertise allow us to deliver the quality products and reliable service we strive to be known for.

Where it Started
In October 1905, brothers William and Frederick Hammond left their family farm in Owen, seeking a new beginning in the Mallee. With little more than their horses and determination, they ventured into a dense mallee scrub, eventually claiming Section 44 near Geranium. The brothers set up camp, carting water from a distant bore and digging their first well—a gruelling task that tested their resolve against the rocky soil and foul air.

The early years were defined by resourcefulness. They cleared land by hand, sowed oats for hay, and arranged for the railway guard to toss mailbags near their bore as the train passed. Wildlife added intrigue to their lives, from snake-filled wells to nights filled with the shrill sounds of wailing wild turkeys.

In 1912, disaster struck—their modest camp burned to the ground. Left with nothing but their clothes, they slept under a ti-tree and cooked eggs in a tin. By morning, neighbours rallied, bringing supplies and sparking a community spirit that would define Geranium.

Years passed, and the Hammond legacy endured. With time, the farm expanded, and the family’s resilience became its hallmark. Fred and Bill’s values—hard work, ingenuity, and commitment—set the foundation for future generations.

In the 1980s, additional land was purchased by David and Pam Morgan, who, alongside their children, continued to build on the legacy. Modern equipment and improved farming helped to increase the carrying capacity of the land fourfold.

In 2019 farm succession transferred ownership to AS & TP Morgan. The growth of Morgan Partners Farms stands as a testament to the grit of its first founders, blending tradition with innovation to thrive in a challenging but rewarding region.
